Dennis Sparger, music director and conductor for The Bach Society of Saint Louis, recently received the Avis Blewett award at First Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood. The award is given annually by the St. Louis American Guild of Organists Chapter to someone who has significantly contributed to St. Louis’ musical culture. FRIENDSHIP VILLAGE CHESTERFIELD Friendship Village residents provided a makeshift pool for ducklings in one of the Village Care Center courtyards. Watching the ducklings offers a pleasant pastime for the residents. MONETA GROUP A team of Moneta Momentum volunteers helped process food at St. Louis Area Foodbank. In just three hours, the volunteers sorted and packaged 16,848 pounds of food, which will provide 13,753 meals for the hungry. The company also presented a check for $5,000. ST. PATRICK’S IRISH OPEN TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Two Men and a Truck Metro St. Louis recently hosted Movers for Moms, a collection drive for local women staying in community shelters. More than 7,000 items were collected and delivered to The Women’s Safe House in St. Louis. Three generations of the Quinn family gathered for the 30th Annual St. Patrick’s Irish Open June 2 at Norwood Hills Country Club to benefit St. Patrick Center. The Quinn family has been instrumental in the growth of St. Patrick Center’s housing, employment and health programs for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
